A major gift in Haryana on Navratri: 'Lado Lakshmi Yojana' launched; 45 lakh women will now receive ₹2,100 per month..
Lado Lakshmi Yojana in Haryana: The Haryana government has given a major gift to women during Navratri by introducing significant changes to the Deen Dayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana. A proposal regarding changes to the scheme's eligibility criteria will be presented at a cabinet meeting chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. Once this proposal receives final approval, it will pave the way for lakhs of additional women from middle- and lower-middle-class backgrounds to receive monthly financial assistance. Following this decision, lakhs more eligible women in the state will be able to receive financial aid of ₹2,100 per month. Here are the three major changes proposed for the scheme, the new rules for submitting life certificates, and other key decisions from the cabinet meeting.
Proposed Changes to the Lado Lakshmi Yojana
According to the proposal included in the cabinet agenda, the following amendments are likely to be made to the rules governing financial assistance under the scheme:
Key Point | Current Status | Proposed New Change
Annual Family Income Limit | ₹1.80 lakh per annum | ₹3.00 lakh per annum
Monthly Financial Assistance | ₹2,100 per month | ₹2,100 per month
Life Certificate | Not mandatory | Must be submitted every 3 months
Option to Select Amount | Option was previously available | Option to select will be discontinued
...Income Limit to Change for the Second Time
At the scheme's inception, the annual income limit for eligibility—as recorded in the Family ID (Parivar Pehchan Patra)—was set at ₹1.00 lakh. This limit was subsequently raised to ₹1.80 lakh in September 2026, a move that brought approximately 17 lakh new women into the scheme's fold. Now, a proposal is being prepared to revise the income limit for a second time; the agenda seeks to raise the limit to ₹3.00 lakh, taking social security and social development indicators into account.
Key Agenda Items for the Haryana Cabinet Meeting
The Haryana cabinet meeting is expected to cover not only the Lado Lakshmi Yojana but also several other proposals related to public interest and administrative affairs. The Cabinet meeting is also likely to discuss waiving the penal rent—amounting to ₹27.17 lakh for Leader of the Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda and ₹38.47 lakh for former Chairman Rajdeep Phogat—incurred for their government accommodations. Additionally, administrative amendments to the Haryana Media Personnel Welfare Fund Distribution Scheme may be approved. A proposal to transfer financial resources to local bodies in accordance with the recommendations of the Sixth State Finance Commission could also be cleared. Furthermore, ex post facto approval might be granted for the notification of the 'Haryana Viksit Bharat Guarantee Employment and Livelihood Mission' scheme.
