Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana: If you are a farmer and wish to start a supplementary business alongside your farming activities, this article is specifically for you. To ensure a steady monthly income, you can consider starting a dairy business. This venture can prove to be particularly profitable if you reside in Uttar Pradesh. Notably, the Government of Uttar Pradesh is offering a substantial subsidy to support this initiative. Let us explore the details of this scheme in depth:
Subsidies Available for Setting Up a Dairy Unit
In 2023, the Government of Uttar Pradesh launched the 'Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana' (Nandini Farmer Prosperity Scheme) for livestock farmers. Under this scheme, you can establish a large-scale dairy unit comprising 25 indigenous cows. The scheme permits the rearing of high-quality indigenous breeds such as Sahiwal, Gir, and Tharparkar. You have the option to set up your dairy unit using a single specific breed or a combination of different breeds. The total estimated cost for this entire project is approximately ₹62 lakh, of which the government provides a subsidy covering 50%—amounting to roughly ₹31 lakh. Of the remaining balance, you can secure a bank loan for 35%, while the remaining 15% must be contributed from your own funds.
Subsidy Disbursement in Three Installments
The government's financial assistance is disbursed in three distinct installments:
First Installment (50%): This portion is released once the physical infrastructure (structure) for the dairy unit has been constructed.
Second Installment (25%): This portion is released after the cows have been purchased.
Third and Final Installment (25%): This portion is released once at least 10 calves have been born to your herd.
Who Can Avail the Benefits of This Scheme?
Certain eligibility criteria and conditions must be met to avail the benefits of this scheme, such as:
The applicant must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh and must possess a minimum of three years of experience in livestock farming.
A land area of 0.5 acres is required for the dairy unit itself, along with an additional 1.5 acres of land specifically for cultivating fodder.
Required Documents
It is mandatory to possess the following documents: a Ration Card, a Bank Account, a Domicile Certificate (Proof of Residence), a Photograph, a Mobile Number, and a Certificate demonstrating your experience in livestock farming. Additionally, you will be required to provide details regarding the land designated for the project. The application proceeds further only after all conditions have been fulfilled.
How to Apply?
The application process is conducted offline. To apply, you must visit the office of your nearest Veterinary Officer to obtain the form, fill it out, and submit it. If a large number of people apply, the selection is carried out through an e-lottery.
This scheme will not only boost milk production but also generate employment in rural areas and improve farmers' incomes. Consequently, if you make the right start, the dairy business can prove to be a lucrative source of income for you.
