Although the short week beginning October 19 (which includes holidays) may not see a flood of IPOs, the primary market is set to be quite active. Two IPOs are scheduled to open during this period, both belonging to the mainboard segment. All eyes, however, will be on the highly anticipated IPO of ‘Jio Platforms’ (JPL)—the technology platform of billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries. A total of ₹31,637.6 crore is expected to be raised through these two mainboard IPOs. Meanwhile, there will be no new IPOs in the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) segment next week.

Jio IPO
Of the two, ‘Jio Platforms’ (JPL)—the parent company of telecom operator ‘Reliance Jio Infocomm’—will be the primary focus of attention. The company plans to raise ₹30,187.6 crore through its initial public offering (IPO). This figure accounts for a discount of ₹54 per share offered to employees. The issue will consist entirely of 27 crore fresh equity shares, making it the largest IPO in the Indian equity market in terms of issue size.

Prior to the Jio Platforms IPO, the largest public issue in the country was the Hyundai Motor India IPO in 2024, which raised ₹27,859 crore. This was followed by the National Stock Exchange’s offering of ₹22,563 crore in 2026 and the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) IPO of ₹20,557 crore in 2022. The ‘anchor book’ for the Jio Platforms IPO will open for one day on October 19, with an expected collection of approximately ₹8,000 crore. The company has reserved 50 percent of the net public issue size—amounting to Rs 27,187.6 crore—for ‘Qualified Institutional Buyers’ (QIBs) (this excludes the portion reserved for employees and shareholders of Reliance Industries). Furthermore, 15 percent has been allocated to ‘Non-Institutional Investors’ (NIIs), while the remaining 35 percent is reserved for retail investors. Within the QIB portion, 60 percent may be allocated to anchor investors, 33.33 percent to domestic mutual funds, and the remaining 6.67 percent to life insurance companies and pension funds.

Jio Platforms has reserved shares worth Rs 500 crore for its employees and shares worth Rs 2,500 crore for the shareholders of its parent company, Reliance Industries. Eligible employees will receive a discount of Rs 54 per share on the final offer price. Targeting a valuation of approximately Rs 10.3 lakh crore, the Jio Platforms IPO will open for public subscription on October 21 and close on October 23. The price band for the issue has been set at Rs 1,065–Rs 1,119 per share.

Investors can bid for a minimum of 12 equity shares, with subsequent applications required in multiples of 12. At the upper end of the price band, the minimum investment for retail investors—for a single lot of 12 shares—will be Rs 13,428. The maximum investment, for 14 lots (totaling 168 shares), will be Rs 1,87,992. Jio Platforms—which operates in the telecom sector alongside other listed entities like Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea—intends to use ₹27,500 crore from the proceeds of its IPO (net of issue expenses) to repay the debt of its primary subsidiary, Reliance Jio Infocomm. This subsidiary had a total outstanding debt of ₹29,917.1 crore. The remaining funds will be utilized for general corporate purposes.

During the company’s IPO press conference last Thursday, Chairman Akash Ambani stated that Jio Platforms is moving toward a ‘net-debt-free’ status, and the capital raised from the IPO will be used to reduce debt. This debt repayment is expected to strengthen the balance sheet of the telecom and digital services company as it enters its next phase of growth.

Paras Healthcare IPO
Meanwhile, the Gurugram-based hospital chain ‘Paras Healthcare’ will be the second mainboard IPO this week, following a subscription schedule similar to that of Jio Platforms. Founded by Dr. Dharminder Kumar Nagar, the company plans to raise ₹1,450 crore at the upper end of its price band. The IPO includes a fresh issue of shares worth ₹500 crore. Additionally, there will be an Offer for Sale (OFS) of shares worth ₹650 crore by promoter Dharminder Kumar Nagar and the investor ‘Commelina’. As of June 2026, Paras Healthcare operates a chain of eight hospitals across North India, Bihar, and Jharkhand, with a total capacity of 2,211 beds. The company will use Rs 375 crore from the proceeds of the fresh issue to repay debt, while the remaining amount will be utilized for general corporate purposes. The stock market will remain closed on October 20 on account of Dussehra.
