In a statement, he said that the government will soon decide on the issue of heavy school bags of students from classes 1 to 12 in the state. Sivankutty said that instructions will be issued to limit the weight of school bags of class I students to 1.6 kg to 2.2 kg and the weight of school bags of class 10 students to 2.5 kg to 4.5 kg. He said that the government is also considering starting the 'Basta-free Day' initiative at least four days a month in the schools of the state.

Many complaints and suggestions are coming from parents and those who like the public education system. Sivankutty said that to reduce the burden on children in the state, textbooks are already being printed and distributed in two parts.
