EPFO UPI Withdrawal: The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) is set to introduce a highly convenient digital facility for its more than 30 crore account holders. With this, there will no longer be a long wait to withdraw money from PF accounts. According to reports, the EPFO has already begun testing provident fund balance withdrawals via UPI in collaboration with banks.

A senior government official has confirmed that this feature is expected to be officially launched by the end of December 2026.

**Direct Link Between UAN Portal and UPI**

Currently, EPFO subscribers fill out online claim forms via the UAN portal. Once the claim process is complete, the EPFO transfers the amount to the subscriber's bank account—a process that takes some time.

Under the new system, the EPFO will directly link the UAN portal with the subscriber's UPI accounts. To facilitate this, the EPFO will launch a new dedicated mobile app that connects directly to the user's bank accounts, the BHIM app, and other popular UPI apps (such as PhonePe and Google Pay). This will make the money transfer process significantly smoother and faster.

**How Much PF Money Can Be Withdrawn via UPI?**

According to the government official, subject to certain conditions, subscribers will be able to withdraw up to 75% of their EPF balance via UPI.

**25% Balance Remains Secure:** Under current EPFO rules, maintaining a minimum balance of 25% in the account is mandatory to continue earning tax-free interest on it.

**Withdrawals for Essential Needs:** For short-term and urgent requirements—such as education, marriage, medical treatment, or house construction—75% of the eligible accumulated EPF balance can be withdrawn instantly via UPI.

**EPFO’s Vast Network and Corpus**

According to sources, the EPFO's total fund corpus has reached approximately ₹26 lakh crore. The organization has a total of over 30 crore subscribers, with around 7.5 crore active contributors who stand to benefit directly from this decision.
