8th Pay Commission Meeting News: Amid rising inflation and escalating household expenses, deliberations on the 8th Pay Commission have intensified under persistent pressure from employee organizations for revisions to salaries and pensions. Now, significant news has emerged concerning the 8th Pay Commission. On July 6 and 7, the 8th Pay Commission will visit Bhubaneswar, Odisha, to engage in discussions with various organizations, unions, and employee associations. This tour is being undertaken with the specific aim of strengthening regional dialogues and understanding the demands related to salaries, allowances, and pensions.

In a government notice issued on May 26, the Commission stated that stakeholders wishing to interact with the Commission during its Bhubaneswar visit may submit applications requesting a time slot on or before June 15, 2026. The notice further specifies that organizations and unions must submit their requests accompanied by the “Unique Memorandum ID” generated after filing their proposals with the Commission.

This development comes at a time when the 8th Pay Commission is gradually expanding the scope of its consultations across various parts of the country to gather feedback and understand the demands of employee representatives and pensioner bodies. The Commission has already held meetings in Delhi and, in recent weeks, has also announced visits to several other cities, including Lucknow, Hyderabad, Srinagar, Ladakh, and Jammu & Kashmir.

According to the official government notification, stakeholders may submit their memoranda via the official website of the 8th Pay Commission. The deadline for submitting these memoranda is May 31, 2026. The notification adds, “Information regarding the venue and schedule of the meetings will be communicated separately.” Additionally, the Commission clarified that separate meetings for other states and Union Territories would be organized at appropriate times.

The employee associations presented the following demands before the Commission:

A higher Fitment Factor
Merger of Dearness Allowance (DA) into Basic Pay
Revision of the Family Unit formula
Pension reforms
And safeguards such as the OPS

In this context, it is noteworthy that this visit to Bhubaneswar is expected to constitute another crucial round of discussions, as the Commission continues to gather local inputs prior to formulating its recommendations.
