8th Pay Commission: Central government employees should note, that these allowances will be abolished in the new pay commission, know

The Union Cabinet gave its approval to the 8th Pay Commission in January this year. It is worth noting that in India the government usually constitutes a pay commission every 10 years. We can say that the Pay Commission decides the fate of central government employees and pensioners for at least 10 years.
Apart from this, the population of India is around 140 crores. Currently, out of these 140 crores, 1 crore people enjoy the privilege of being employees or former employees of the central government. The then UPA government set up the 7th Pay Commission in 2014 and the NDA government implemented it in 2016.
8th Pay Commission: Many allowances may be abolished
The work of the Pay Commission is not limited to salary and pension hikes only. It also assesses the allowances and other facilities given to central government employees. According to several media reports, the new pay commission may completely eliminate many old and irrelevant allowances given in the 7th Pay Commission. Also, new allowances can be included in the new pay commission if needed.
According to media reports, the 7th Pay Commission has also abolished many allowances for central government employees and pensioners.
100% salary hike and other details
M. Raghavaiah, leader of the staff side of the National Council-Joint Consultative Machinery (NC-JCM), told NDTV Profit that they will consider 'Fitment Factor 2' under the new pay commission. This will increase the salary of central government employees and pensioners by 100%.
Under the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary of central government employees is currently fixed at Rs 18,000 per month. Apart from this, pensioners currently get a minimum basic monthly pension of Rs 9,000.
On fitment factor 2, the minimum basic salary of central government employees will become Rs 36,000 per month. The minimum basic pension of pensioners will become Rs 18,000 per month.
