Good news for central government employees. The month of July has arrived. This month is very important. Because, how much the dearness allowance of central employees will increase will be known by the end of this month. There is a lot of discussion about the increase in Dearness Allowance from July. Under the 7th Pay Commission, dearness allowance forms an important part of the salary of the employees, which is revised from time to time based on the inflation rate. But, meanwhile, there was also a discussion that the dearness allowance would be made zero.

Current status of dearness allowance

At present, central employees get a 50% dearness allowance, which was increased in March 2024. The rate of dearness allowance depends on the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which shows the rate of inflation. The score of dearness allowance is decided based on the data of the AICPI index. So far, 4 months of dearness allowance numbers have come. The numbers for May were to be released at the end of June, but there has been a delay in it. At the same time, the final score of the dearness allowance will be known with the release of June figures in July.

How much can DA increase?

Experts estimate that there may be a 3% increase in dearness allowance from July. If this happens, then the dearness allowance of central employees will reach 53%. The direct effect of this increase will be visible in the monthly salary of the employees and they will get relief from rising inflation.

No intention to merge the DA

Recently there was some speculation that the government may consider merging dearness allowance into basic pay. However, sources in the Finance Ministry have denied this and clarified that there is no intention to merge dearness allowance. Dearness allowance will remain a separate and regularly adjusted allowance, which is based on the rate of inflation.

Finance Ministry statement

The Finance Ministry has clarified that the review and adjustment of dearness allowance is a regular process and is done every 6 months. The ministry also said that appropriate decisions will be taken keeping in mind the interests of the employees. Central employees are waiting for an increase in dearness allowance. There is no plan to merge DA. Employees are advised to wait for official information and not believe in rumors.
