Central government employees and pensioners did not get 18 months of dearness allowance and dearness relief (DR) during the Corona epidemic. The government had stopped the payment of DA and DR for 18 months from January 2020 to June 2021. Employees and pensioners are constantly demanding its payment. This will benefit more than one crore employees and pensioners.

Shiv Gopal Mishra, Secretary of the National Council of Joint Consultative Machinery for Central Government Employees, has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard and urged him to give 18 months' DA and DR to employees and pensioners.

Employees' in-hand salary will increase, and EPFO made a big change in the rules.
Earlier, Mukesh Singh, General Secretary of Bharatiya Pratiksha Mazdoor Sangh, had also urged the Central Government to release the pending DA arrears of 18 months. In a letter to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Singh said that as our country is gradually recovering from the impact of the pandemic, it is encouraging to see its financial condition improving.

In such a situation, employees and pensioners should be paid 18 months of pending DA and DR. Earlier, in a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary had said that the financial situation was negatively affected by the Corona epidemic. In such a situation, it is not practical to pay DA / DR arrears.

What is Dearness Allowance (DA)?
The DA of central government employees is updated twice a year between January and July. DA is calculated by multiplying the current rate of dearness allowance with the basic salary. DA and DR are given to government employees public sector employees and pensioners. It is given to help employees with their living expenses.

If the central government decides to pay the pending allowances of the employees, then central employees are expected to get a benefit of up to two lakh rupees. The DA arrears of level-1 employees range from Rs 11,880 to Rs 37,554. Similarly, level-13 employees can get arrears ranging from Rs 1,23,100 to Rs 2,15,900.
