7 Major Exams to be Held in UP Over the Next 4 Months; Check the List
The coming four months are crucial for candidates preparing for competitive exams in Uttar Pradesh. The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has prepared to conduct seven major examinations by December.
The next four months are significant for candidates awaiting recruitment for government teaching positions and roles in higher education in Uttar Pradesh. The Commission has planned seven major exams to be held by December. These include exams for the recruitment of Principals and Assistant Professors in non-government aided colleges; Principals and Headmasters in aided secondary schools; PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) and TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) roles; Special TET; and Assistant Teachers in council primary schools (Super TET). While dates for some of these exams have already been finalized, others are awaiting the release of recruitment advertisements and the commencement of the application process.
Written Exam for Principal Posts on September 24
Among these seven major exams, the written test for the recruitment of Principals in non-government aided colleges will be held first. The written examination for 111 Principal posts is scheduled for September 24, 2026. The recruitment process is already underway, and the Commission is now preparing to conduct the exam.
Special TET to be Held on November 3
The Special TET for teachers currently employed in council primary and upper primary schools is also a key part of this recruitment exam calendar. This special exam is being conducted for serving teachers following a Supreme Court order. Applications for the Special TET opened on September 5, 2026, and candidates can apply until October 4. The deadline for making corrections to applications is October 8. The exam will be held on November 3. It is worth noting that this is distinct from the general TET and is being organized specifically to provide an opportunity for serving teachers who need to fulfill the TET qualification requirement.
Recruitment for 2,615 PGT Posts
Preparations are underway to recruit for 2,615 posts of Lecturers (PGT) in aided secondary schools. Educational qualification criteria have been revised for this purpose; candidates will now be required to have secured at least 50% marks in their postgraduate degree. The Directorate of Education had submitted a proposal to the government to amend the recruitment rules. The recruitment advertisement will be issued once the amendment process is complete. Additionally, the government is preparing to recruit for 1,936 Assistant Professor posts.
1,475 Principal and 1,172 Headmaster Posts
Large-scale recruitment is also set to take place in aided intermediate colleges and high schools. The Directorate of Education has forwarded details regarding 1,475 Principal posts in intermediate colleges and 1,172 Headmaster posts in high schools to the Education Service Selection Commission. An advertisement for these positions is expected to be released soon.
Awaiting Recruitment for 17,740 TGT Posts
Preparations are also in progress for the recruitment of 17,740 Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT). A proposal to revise the eligibility criteria for these posts has been submitted to the government, and the application process will commence once approval is granted. A proposal to make the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandatory for TGT recruitment has also been sent to the government. A minimum of 50% marks in graduation will be a required criterion. Meanwhile, candidates have demanded that the TGT recruitment advertisement be released by September 15.
Recruitment of 11,508 Assistant Teachers in Primary Schools
Recruiting Assistant Teachers for council-run primary schools is also a top priority for the Commission. A requisition for 11,508 posts has already been uploaded to the selection commission’s portal. Preparations are now underway to issue the recruitment advertisement for these positions.
