3729 transactions from UPI every second, transactions worth Rs 81 lakh crore between April-July
3729 transactions are being done every second through UPI. A total of Rs 20.6 lakh crore worth of transactions were done through UPI in July. This is the largest figure of UPI transactions recorded so far.
Unified Payments Interface (UPI) has seen transactions worth more than Rs 81 lakh crore in the April-July period. It has seen a growth of 37 per cent on an annual basis. This information has been given in a report. The latest data released by Global Payments Hub PaySecure states that 3,729.1 transactions are taking place per second through UPI. In 2022, this figure was 2,348 transactions per second. During this period, an increase of 58 per cent has been seen in transactions through UPI.
India is leading in the world
According to the data, India has gone far ahead of China's Alipay, America's PayPal and Brazil's Pix in terms of the number of UPI transactions. In July, a total of Rs 20.6 lakh crore worth of transactions were done through UPI. This is the largest UPI transaction figure ever recorded. Apart from this, the total value of transactions done through UPI has remained above Rs 20 lakh crore for three consecutive months.
India is on top in digital transactions
This data has been released by PaySecure after examining 40 of the top alternative payment methods across the world. According to PaySecure's data, India is on top in terms of digital transactions in the world. Here, around 40 percent of transactions are done digitally. People are using UPI the most to make digital payments.
Positive responses are also being received from abroad
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) CEO Dilip Asbe said that with credit growth, the number of transactions through UPI is likely to reach 100 billion in the next 10 to 15 years. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has said that our focus is to take UPI and RuPay cards to the global level. Positive response has also been received from abroad for this.
Goal to make UPI international
Speaking at the 'Global Fintech Fest' in Mumbai this week, he said that taking UPI abroad, accepting payments through UPI QR codes by merchants internationally, and connecting UPI to fast payment systems of other countries for cross-border payments are our top priorities.
