PM Vishwakarma Yojana: The Central Government stated on Friday that 30 lakh beneficiaries have registered under the PM Vishwakarma Yojana so far, with approximately 24.50 lakh individuals having received basic skill training.
According to the Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Jitan Ram Manjhi, 18.15 lakh modern toolkits have been distributed via India Post. Additionally, 6.18 lakh Vishwakarmas have received loans of up to ₹1 lakh at a concessional annual interest rate of 5 percent, amounting to a total of ₹5,297 crore.
MSME Minister Highlights Achievements of PM Vishwakarma Yojana
MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi outlined the achievements of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched this scheme on September 17, 2023, to empower traditional artisans and craftspeople by providing them with skill training, modern toolkits, credit, and market support. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) celebrated the first anniversary of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana at the Dhanyo Auditorium in Kolkata.
On this occasion, emphasis was placed on the government's continuous efforts to strengthen the livelihoods, skills, and entrepreneurial capabilities of traditional artisans and craftspeople. Addressing the gathering, West Bengal's Leader of the Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, highlighted the importance of providing skill training and credit support to the state's traditional artisans and craftspeople.
Over 7 Lakh Applications Received from West Bengal
Speaking about the progress of the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in West Bengal, he noted that over 7 lakh applications have been received under the scheme. He stated that the state government would promptly provide the necessary assistance to help Vishwakarmas avail the benefits of the scheme. Union Minister of State for MSME, Shobha Karandlaje, congratulated the beneficiaries and extended her best wishes for their entrepreneurial journey.
She encouraged them to make full use of the opportunities and support available under PM Vishwakarma and to strive towards becoming successful entrepreneurs. Karandlaje stated that this program is crucial for West Bengal, as the state has recently joined the PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and this is the Ministry of MSME's first program under the scheme in the state.
She emphasized that empowering women entrepreneurs would play a vital role in building strong families and communities, as well as a prosperous 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
