If you still have 2000 rupee notes, you can exchange them at the regional offices of RBI. However, you will have to submit valid identity proof during the process.

In 2016, demonetization took place in India, where the 500 and 1000 rupee notes used at that time were discontinued. After this, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced new 2000 and 500 rupee notes.

In May 2023, the government announced the discontinuation of printing and circulation of 2000 rupee notes. October 2023 was the last month to exchange these notes in banks.

Many people still have these 2000 rupee notes, and shopkeepers often refuse to accept them. If you are worried about what to do with these notes, then don't worry. You can still exchange them through RBI.

RBI has centers in 19 cities across India where you can exchange your notes. Also, you can send your notes to RBI regional offices via India Post, though this will incur a fee.
