1 in 10 vehicles pass without FASTag; this Delhi toll plaza tops the list
While paying tolls without stopping has become easier at many plazas, issues with FASTag can lead to an e-Notice. NHAI data reveals that a specific toll plaza in Delhi leads the list in this regard. Read on to find out more.
If you frequently travel through toll plazas, this news is important for you. Often, a problem with one vehicle’s FASTag causes significant delays for others, leading to long queues and a waste of drivers’ time.
To address this issue, the NHAI introduced the Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) system. This allows vehicles to pass through toll plazas without stopping at barriers. However, if the toll payment fails via FASTag for any reason, an e-Notice is sent to the driver. Surprisingly, NHAI data shows a high number of such cases, with a toll plaza in Delhi topping the list.
What is the MLFF system?
Under this system, many toll plazas do not have gates or booths, allowing drivers to pass through without stopping. These plazas are equipped with sensors and cameras that process toll payments using FASTag or license plate recognition without halting the vehicle. This system was launched in May 2026.
However, if the toll tax is not deducted from a vehicle’s FASTag or license plate for any reason, an e-Notice is issued. The MLFF system has not yet been implemented at all toll plazas. Let us now identify the Delhi toll plaza that has recorded the highest number of non-payment cases.
Highest number of e-Notices issued from this toll plaza
According to the data, the highest number of e-Notices were issued from Delhi’s Mundka toll plaza. In terms of figures, notices have been sent to approximately 4.54 lakh vehicles.
Discrepancies in toll payment also reported
It is worth noting that issues regarding toll payments have also surfaced at the MLFF toll plaza in Choryasi, Gujarat. Data indicates an error rate of 11.97 percent at this location.
