YouTube, a major force in the world of video streaming, is set to transform the viewing and search experience for its users. The company has expanded its advanced AI-powered search tool, "Ask YouTube," to mobile devices in the United States. This was announced in an official blog post on Monday. With this latest rollout, the conversational AI feature is now fully available across smartphones, the web, and smart TVs.

What is "Ask YouTube" and how does it work?
Unlike traditional keyword-based searches, "Ask YouTube" offers users a completely new experience:

Conversational Search:
Users no longer need to rely on short keywords; instead, they can ask full, detailed questions, just as they would in a natural conversation.

Ability to Ask Follow-up Questions:
If the initial results aren't quite what the user is looking for, they can continue the conversation to further refine or customize their search.

Interactive Layout:
Instead of a standard list, the results are presented in an engaging, interactive format. On smart TVs, the feature can also be accessed directly via voice commands.

From Google I/O to Mobile
YouTube first unveiled this innovative feature at the Google I/O event in May of this year. At the time, the company explained that the AI tool selects the most relevant and useful videos from the YouTube library and presents them in a structured format.

Initially, the feature was introduced as an experiment for YouTube Premium subscribers aged 18 and older in the United States. In July, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan announced its availability to web users in the U.S. With the addition of smart TV support and this latest mobile rollout, the full ecosystem for the feature is now complete.

Support for Shorts and Live Streams Coming Soon
YouTube is actively integrating this feature into the watch page. In the near future, it will also be available while watching Shorts and live streams. This will allow viewers to ask questions in real-time and gain immediate context regarding the video or live stream they are watching.

When will Indian users get this feature?
Although the company has not yet clarified when the 'Ask YouTube' feature will be introduced in India and other global markets outside the U.S., there is speculation within the tech industry that it could soon be rolled out to users worldwide.
