ChatGPT GO Subscription Free for 1 Year: This is big news for ChatGPT users. Now, starting November 4th, even those without a subscription will be able to use ChatGPT GO for free. OpenAI has made ChatGPT's paid version, ChatGPT GO, free for every user in India. Most importantly, ChatGPT GO isn't just free for a few days or a month; the company has made it free for an entire year. This means users can use ChatGPT GO for free for a full year. OpenAI launched ChatGPT GO in August as a cheaper alternative to ChatGPT's Plus subscription. Users could use ChatGPT GO for a monthly fee of just ₹399. However, the company has now made it free for all users. Let's find out how to activate it.
What is ChatGPT Go?
The ChatGPT Go plan sits between the free tier and the Plus subscription. The company launched this plan exclusively for India. It allows users to access a light, premium version of ChatGPT at a lower cost. The biggest benefit of this plan is for users who want extended access to the company's latest frontier model, GPT-5. Additionally, this plan offers increased limits in Python and other data analysis tools. This plan also provides access to projects, work, and custom GPT, allowing users to organize their work, track progress, and create or refine AI tools as needed.
How to activate the free ChatGPT Go plan?
You can activate ChatGPT Go for free by following the steps given here.
Open ChatGPT on your phone or laptop.
Login with your official Gmail ID.
After logging in, you'll see "Try Go, Free" appear on your screen; click on it.
Upgrade to Go for ₹0 will open a new page.
Click on the Upgrade to Go option for ₹0.
After clicking, a payment option will appear on your screen, asking you to pay ₹0 via UPI, card, or bank transaction.
Here, you'll need to provide your UPI, card, or bank details.
After providing these details, you'll also need to confirm payment of the ₹399 subscription charge. However, you won't incur any additional charges.
After completing this process, your ChatGPT Go will be activated for free.
Note: Turn off the AutoPay option to avoid automatic monthly charges after the free period ends.
What benefits will you get with ChatGPT Go?
Use the advanced model GPT-5: Experience more prompt and longer conversations with OpenAI's flagship model.
Creative tools: Generate higher-quality images and analyze file formats.
Advanced data analysis: Use Python-based features for data visualization and exploration.
Personalized memory: Benefit from longer, context-aware conversations that adapt to your needs over time.
Affordable access: Enjoy premium ChatGPT features at a significantly lower price, now free for one year.
What are the limitations of ChatGPT Go?
Compared to the free plan, the ChatGPT Go plan offers users many benefits, but also has some limitations. For example:
ChatGPT Go does not include API access, as this remains a separate paid service under OpenAI's API pricing. Furthermore, older AI models like GPT-4o and GPT-4 Turbo are not available, and users will not have access to third-party connectors or Sora, OpenAI's video-generation tool. Both features are available for Plus and Pro users. Furthermore, GPT-5 Thinking Mode works automatically. This means users can benefit from the enhanced reasoning capabilities, but cannot manually adjust or extend them.
What to keep in mind:
When activating ChatGPT GO for free, you will need to provide your UPI, card, or bank details. However, no charges will be deducted. However, monthly charges will apply after the one-year free period ends. Therefore, be sure to disable the AutoPay option after providing your card, bank, or UPI details. This will prevent any money from being deducted from your account after the free period ends.
