Elon Musk now wants to make his platform X (formerly Twitter) the biggest source of income for writers and journalists. Musk has stated that his goal is to make X a platform where people can earn their entire livelihood based on their talent and content. The platform has announced that the past year was its most successful year ever in terms of paying creators.

Creators can now earn more.
In a post from the @XCreators account on January 17, the company announced that it had made its highest-ever payouts since launching its monetization program last year. X says it is further expanding this program so that creators can grow and earn more on the platform.

X stated that it has doubled its revenue-sharing pool. This increase is due to the expected growth in X Premium subscriptions in 2025. According to the company, as the platform grows, it's essential that creators also benefit.

Special focus on long-form content
The calculation of creators' earnings has changed slightly. Now, creators' earnings will depend on how many times "Premium" users have viewed their posts on their home timeline. Musk believes that writing long articles requires more effort than writing short posts, so longer articles will now be given more weight.

Win a prize of ₹8 crore for your post!
X made the most surprising announcement regarding a $1 million (approximately ₹8.3 crore) prize. The writer whose article is the most outstanding and becomes a topic of discussion during the next payout period will be awarded this massive sum.

Conditions for winning the prize:
The user must be an X Premium subscriber.
The article must be completely original and at least 1,000 words long.
The winner will be selected based on how many times the article was viewed by Premium users and the amount of discussion it generated. Currently, this $1 million prize is only available to US users.

What hasn't changed?
The platform has clarified that views from users on higher premium tiers (such as Premium+) will still be worth more than those from users on lower tiers. Additionally, strict action will continue to be taken against fake views and fraudulent activity to prevent anyone from earning money unfairly. A new and more detailed "Earnings Dashboard" for creators will also be launched soon, where they can track their earnings down to the last penny.
