Microsoft has released its major security update for May 2026 for Windows 11 users. In this update, the company has fixed a total of 97 security flaws, including several extremely critical bugs. Notably, major Microsoft platforms such as Bing Images and Azure Cloud Shell were also affected by these dangerous vulnerabilities. The company states that, currently, there are no reports of these bugs being actively exploited; however, several of these vulnerabilities were classified as high-risk.

**Extremely Dangerous Bugs Found in Bing and Azure**
The most critical flaw addressed in this update is considered to be CVE-2026-32169, which was associated with Azure Cloud Shell. According to Microsoft, this bug had a CVSS score of 10.0, indicating the highest level of severity. It was a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability that could allow an attacker to gain elevated privileges on the system over a network without requiring authentication. Additionally, two critical Command Injection vulnerabilities—designated as CVE-2026-32191 and CVE-2026-32194—were discovered in Bing Images. These carried a score of 9.8 and could potentially enable Remote Code Execution. Microsoft noted that exploiting these bugs does not even require user interaction.

**Multiple Vulnerabilities Fixed in Windows and Office**
In this update, Microsoft also resolved several privilege escalation vulnerabilities related to the Windows Kernel, Winlogon, SMB Server, and Winsock Driver. The company classified some of these flaws under the "Exploitation More Likely" category, meaning that cyber attackers could easily leverage them to launch attacks. Furthermore, several Remote Code Execution bugs found in Microsoft Office and Excel have also been patched. Vulnerabilities present in SharePoint Server—which could have been exploited to target enterprise networks—have also been fixed. Microsoft states that this update is crucial for both business and general users.

**Secure Boot and BitLocker Issues Also Resolved**
Through this update, Microsoft has also resolved the BitLocker recovery issue that emerged following the April 2026 updates. On some systems, the BitLocker recovery screen was appearing repeatedly after installing the update, causing inconvenience to users. The company has now improved boot reliability to prevent these unwanted recovery prompts. Additionally, Microsoft has issued a warning regarding Secure Boot certificate expirations scheduled to begin in June 2026. The company stated that devices that do not receive a new certificate promptly may encounter issues related to Secure Boot. As of now, Microsoft has confirmed that no major known issues have been identified in the May 2026 update.
