In the future, train passengers will receive QR code-based tickets. QR code scanning machines will be installed at railway stations, and entry will be granted only to those presenting a valid ticket. In other words, passengers without a ticket will be denied entry into the station premises. But where, exactly, did the idea for QR code-based tickets originate? And how was this initiative announced? Let's find out.

According to railway officials, several members of the Railway Board were traveling by metro on official duty. After gaining entry using their QR code-based tickets, they all boarded the metro train. During the journey, they discussed why this very system could not be implemented for trains as well. Much like railway stations, metro stations also experience heavy overcrowding during peak office hours. If people willingly adhere to such a system at metro stations, why couldn't the same arrangement be established at railway stations? It was precisely this line of thought that sparked the idea for QR code-based tickets. The proposal was subsequently presented to the Railway Minister, who appreciated the concept and gave it his official approval.

Indian Railways has decided to implement a new system at the New Delhi station to manage the massive crowds that typically gather at railway stations during the festive season, particularly during Diwali and Chhath Puja. A QR code-based entry system will now be introduced at this station, under which entry into the station premises will be granted exclusively to passengers holding a valid ticket.

The primary objective of this new system is to curb the presence of unauthorized and ticketless individuals while simultaneously enhancing passenger safety and convenience. During festive periods, railway stations often become heavily congested, causing inconvenience to passengers and leading to chaotic conditions. The implementation of the QR code scanning system is expected to make the entry process significantly more organized and efficient.

According to railway officials, passengers will be required to scan the QR code printed on their tickets at the station's entry gates. No individual without a valid travel ticket—or at the very least, a platform ticket—will be permitted to enter the premises. Additionally, security measures will be bolstered through the deployment of additional security personnel and enhanced surveillance.
