WhatsApp to Soon Allow Blocking of Business Messages: New Feature on the Way
A new feature is coming soon to WhatsApp. With the help of this facility, users will be able to block business messages. It is believed that this will reduce the volume of spam messages on the platform and provide users with a more personalized experience.
WhatsApp is set to introduce a new feature to enhance its platform, allowing users to block messages originating from business accounts. The primary objective of this feature is to organize business chats while simultaneously curbing spam messages. Consequently, users will see only their personal chats within their chat window. The introduction of this feature is also expected to significantly improve the overall messaging experience for users.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, the “Stop Business Interaction” feature was discovered in the WhatsApp Android Beta update version 2.26.16.1, available on the Google Play Store. This feature is currently in the development phase. Once released, it will enable users to block business messages, thereby reducing spam on the platform and ensuring a more personalized user experience.

Screenshots included in a tweet reveal that WhatsApp has already begun working on the feature designed to block messages from business accounts. This tool is accessible within the chat window of a business account, allowing users to block business messages for specific durations: 24 hours, one week, or permanently.
The report further indicates that, in addition to simply blocking business messages, users will also be able to select a specific reason for blocking the account. However, doing so will require following a few additional steps. Furthermore, shortcuts will be provided to facilitate the easy management of business chats.
Users may receive an initial “Stop” shortcut, which will allow them to block business messages. Alongside this, a feature to view the business profile will be available, enabling users to access more detailed information about that specific account. Collectively, these tools will make managing accounts and messages easier, leading to a much-improved user experience.
Feature Currently Under Development
WhatsApp’s feature for blocking business messages is currently in the development stage. Work on implementing this functionality is ongoing. It is expected to be released to stable Android users in the coming months. Subsequently, the tool will be rolled out to iPhone users.
