WhatsApp Tips: Is someone else using your WhatsApp account? You'll find out in just a few seconds, here's how..

Social media

WhatsApp is becoming a huge part of our lives these days. We share all kinds of details on it, so it's important to be concerned about privacy. Hacking incidents are increasing so much that we sometimes suspect that our account has been linked to someone else and that someone else is using it. This could put our privacy at risk, and private messages, photos, or calls could fall into someone else's hands.

If you're wondering how to check if someone else is using your WhatsApp, the steps are quite simple.

Check Linked Devices -
Android / iPhone: Go to WhatsApp, tap Settings, then go to Linked Devices.

See if any unknown devices or browsers (Chrome, Edge, Windows) are logged in. If so, tap on it to log out or log out from all devices.

WhatsApp Web/Desktop Login Notifications
If someone has logged in via WhatsApp Web, you may see a notification on your phone. Seeing an unknown device in Linked Devices is a risk.

Anything strange in your chat history:
Sent but unread messages you don't know about, new or accidentally created groups, and messages sent by you that you didn't write are all signs that someone else is accessing your chat.

'Last seen'/'Online' that doesn't seem right:
If you're not online but someone has been active on your account, it could be someone else using WhatsApp.

Security code/encryption notifications
You may receive a notification if someone changes your encryption code.

Enable 'Show security notifications' in Settings > Account > Security.
If you suspect something, do the following immediately:
-Log out of all linked devices.
-Turn on two-step verification (2FA)
-Strengthen your phone's screen lock
-Remove suspicious apps and files
-Report to WhatsApp Support
-Notify your contacts
