WhatsApp New Feature: Users of the messaging platform WhatsApp will no longer have to worry about their Status updates disappearing. To address this, the company is introducing an archive feature similar to the one found on Instagram.

WhatsApp New Feature: New features are being rolled out for WhatsApp users one after another. Now, the company is working on yet another new feature that could solve a major problem. Currently, WhatsApp Status updates remain visible for only 24 hours before disappearing. To allow users to retain their Status updates even after this period, the company may introduce a "Status Archive" feature similar to Instagram's. With this feature, Status updates that expire after the time limit will be automatically saved, meaning you won't have to manually save them every time. Let's take a closer look at how this feature works and the changes it will bring about.

What is the current system regarding Status updates?

Currently, WhatsApp Status updates are subject to a 24-hour time limit. After this period, they are automatically removed and are no longer visible. If you do not save a Status update during this window, it will not be accessible again. Consequently, users have been requesting a "Status Archive" feature for quite some time. This feature is already available for WhatsApp Business users, and it is now expected to be rolled out to regular users as well.

What will change once the Archive feature arrives?

According to reports, the introduction of this new feature could effectively eliminate the time limit for Status updates. This means that a Status update will no longer be automatically deleted once it expires; instead, the user will have to delete it manually. However, the new feature will also provide users with additional controls. In fact, WhatsApp intends to make the Status Archive feature optional. This will allow users to decide whether or not they wish to archive their Status updates. If a user chooses to disable this feature, their Status updates will not be archived.

When can we expect the new feature to arrive?

According to reports, WhatsApp is currently working on this feature, and testing has not yet begun. Typically, once a feature has been developed, it undergoes testing with beta users before being released to the general public. A feature is rolled out to users only after testing has been completed. Consequently, it is believed that the rollout of this feature could still take a few weeks.

New Paid Subscription Coming to WhatsApp

WhatsApp is currently testing its paid subscription service, "WhatsApp Plus." Under this plan, users will gain access to additional features in exchange for a monthly fee. However, even after the paid subscription is introduced, core functions such as calling, chatting, and file sharing will continue to remain available for free.
