WhatsApp Set to Introduce a Special Feature Regarding DPs; It Will Resolve Several Issues Simultaneously
WhatsApp Feature: WhatsApp’s new feature will allow users to set the image from a contact’s card as that contact’s profile picture (DP) within the app. This feature will only function if the other user has not set a DP of their own.
WhatsApp Feature: A new feature is coming to the messaging platform WhatsApp. With its help, users will be able to replace the blank profile pictures of contacts who have removed their DPs. The benefit of this is that users will be able to set a profile picture of their choice for any such contact. This will make it easier to distinguish between users with identical names, eliminating the fear of accidentally sending a message to the wrong person during a chat session. This WhatsApp feature will also prove useful in instances where a user has not set a profile image at all.
How Will the New WhatsApp Feature Work?
According to reports, Meta-owned WhatsApp is currently working on a new feature. Initially, it will be rolled out to a select group of users, who will be able to replace the blank profile pictures of contacts saved in their phones. Users will be able to set the photo associated with a contact card in their phone’s address book as that contact’s profile picture on WhatsApp. This change will be strictly local to the user; that is, other WhatsApp users will not see this specific image. This will simplify the process of identifying contacts. The feature has already been rolled out to a limited number of beta users.
When Will This Feature Be Available to Other Users?
According to reports, WhatsApp has currently rolled out this feature to a few beta users on iOS. Based on the feedback received from them, certain adjustments may be made to the feature. Subsequently, it will be rolled out to the broader user base in a phased manner. It is worth noting that Meta has not yet issued any official statement regarding this development.
WhatsApp Users to Soon Receive a New Privacy Feature
WhatsApp is also working on a new privacy feature for its users. Under this feature, messages will automatically delete themselves a short while after they have been read. WhatsApp currently offers a “Disappearing Messages” feature, but the upcoming update promises to be far more rapid and advanced. Under this new feature, messages could automatically vanish approximately 15 minutes after being read. Conversely, if a message remains unopened, it could automatically delete itself within 24 hours. However, it will still be possible to copy these messages, and there will be no restrictions on taking screenshots. Consequently, this feature will need to be used with discretion. Currently, this feature is undergoing testing.
