Meta has begun testing a new premium subscription plan for WhatsApp called 'WhatsApp Plus.' This will be an optional plan, intended specifically for users who desire greater customization and additional features within the app. Currently, testing has commenced for Android beta users, while it will be rolled out to iPhone users at a later date.

According to the company, the objective of WhatsApp Plus is to provide users with the option to utilize the app in a manner that better suits their personal preferences. The plan will offer a range of new premium features.

The most significant change is that premium users will now be able to pin up to 20 chats. Currently, standard users are limited to pinning only three chats. This enhancement will make it easier to quickly access important conversations.

Additionally, WhatsApp Plus will feature custom app themes. Users will be able to transform the entire look of the app by selecting their preferred color from a palette of 18 new options. Various choices—such as Vibrant Blue, Royal Purple, Forest Green, and Fuchsia Pink—will be available.

The company will also provide 14 new custom app icons. These will range from simple, minimalist designs to unique styles such as Cosmic Nebula, Glitter, and Green Clay. This will allow users to give their WhatsApp a distinct and personalized appearance.

Included with the subscription are 10 exclusive ringtones, enabling users to easily distinguish incoming calls. Premium stickers and animated sticker packs will also be part of this plan.

However, WhatsApp's core services—such as messaging, voice calls, and end-to-end encryption—will remain completely free for all users, just as they are now. In other words, users will only be required to pay for the additional features.

According to reports, WhatsApp Plus is expected to be affordably priced. In Europe, the cost is estimated to be approximately €2.49 per month. Some users may also be offered a one-month free trial.
