WhatsApp Mobile Recharge: An Amazing Feature Arrives in India—Recharge Airtel, Jio, and Vi Directly from the App..
The messaging app WhatsApp has introduced a highly useful feature for its users in India. Now, in addition to chatting with friends, you can also recharge your mobile phone directly from within the app itself. To enable this, WhatsApp has partnered with a payments company named PayU.
This new feature is set to roll out to all Android and iPhone users over the next few weeks. It is worth noting that WhatsApp already offers facilities for paying bills and, in select cities, booking metro tickets. With the arrival of this new recharge feature, the app has become even more indispensable.
**Which numbers can be recharged?**
Following this new update, prepaid users of Airtel, Jio, and Vodafone-Idea (Vi) will be able to easily recharge their mobile phones by selecting their preferred plan. The best part is that you won't need to exit WhatsApp and switch to another app (such as Paytm or PhonePe) to do this.
**What has changed in the app?**
To simplify recharges and payments, WhatsApp has undergone a minor interface change. You will now see a new Rupee symbol (₹) icon located right next to the camera icon on your WhatsApp home screen. This icon acts like a magic wand.
Tapping on it will take you directly to the Payments section, where you can handle mobile recharges, send money via UPI, and book metro tickets—all from a single location. This (₹) icon will also appear within your individual chats, allowing you to instantly send money to someone even while you are in the middle of a conversation.
**How to recharge using WhatsApp?**
Recharging through the app is extremely simple and completely secure. Just follow these steps:
Tap on the ₹ (Rupee) icon located on your WhatsApp home screen or within any chat window.
Next, select the 'Mobile Prepaid Recharge' option.
Now, enter the mobile number you wish to recharge. (You can enter your own number or that of a friend or relative.
After entering the number, select your telecom operator (Airtel, Jio, or Vi).
Choose the appropriate recharge plan that best suits your needs. Now, select a payment method (you can use UPI, a debit card, or a credit card).
If you are paying via UPI, enter your UPI PIN to complete the recharge.
What happens after the recharge is complete?
As soon as your recharge is successful, a confirmation message will appear on your screen. This message will contain full details regarding your recharge plan. If you wish to view your past recharge history in the future, you can check your history at the bottom of the Payments page.
