WhatsApp Media Viewer Interface Set for a Makeover; Reacting Will Become Easier

WhatsApp is set to revamp its media viewer interface soon. The old shortcut will be replaced by a new reply bar, making it easier for users to react to content.

To enhance the user experience, WhatsApp is planning changes to its media viewer interface. As part of this update, the existing shortcut will be removed and replaced with a new reply bar, allowing users to react directly to photos, videos, voice notes, and messages from within the media viewer itself, without needing to close it.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, details about this update emerged from the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.11.18. The media viewer interface is being redesigned for user convenience, making it much simpler to react to messages, photos, or videos. Users will no longer need to navigate back to the main chat window to send a reaction.

The report suggests that WhatsApp aims to simplify the interface. The new design will feature a reaction tray at the bottom, displaying two default emojis. Users can react by tapping on any of the six available emojis. If they wish to use a different emoji, they can tap the plus button to access a wider selection.

The new media viewer is expected to make replying to photos and videos much easier than before. Previously, users had to close the media viewer to send a reaction, but the new interface eliminates this step, offering greater convenience and utility.

Released for Beta Users

WhatsApp has begun testing the new interface and has rolled it out to beta users. It is expected to be released to users worldwide in the coming months, with Android users likely to receive support for it first.

WhatsApp Web Calling

Finally, it is worth noting that WhatsApp recently launched a web calling feature for its users. With the introduction of this feature, calls can now be made directly from laptops and computers, eliminating the need to use a phone.

In addition to web calling, a 'Call Transfer' feature has also been added. This allows a call to be transferred from one device to another—whether between a browser and a phone.
