According to reports, WhatsApp's new scam alert feature will analyze messages on the device to determine if a conversation is linked to a potential scam. If the system flags anything suspicious, a warning may appear within the chat. This warning will be visible only to the user; the other person involved in the conversation will not be notified. Users can then choose to block the contact, report the conversation, or continue chatting.

**Marking Chats as Trusted**
If WhatsApp mistakenly flags a normal conversation as suspicious, the user can mark that chat as "trusted." Doing so is likely to remove the warning for that conversation and prevent the feature from flagging it again. Users also have the option to share their last five received messages with WhatsApp. According to reports, this step is entirely optional and aims to improve the accuracy of the scam detection system.

**Focus on Privacy**
Privacy has been a key priority in the development of this new feature. Reports indicate that when scam detection is enabled, message content will not leave the user's device for analysis. Simply flagging a conversation as suspicious does not automatically report it to WhatsApp, Meta, or any other party. Users can disable the scam alert feature whenever they wish.
