WhatsApp Is Getting an Instagram-Like Feature: Not Everyone Will Be Able to See Your Status
WhatsApp New Feature: A feature similar to Instagram's "Close Friends" is coming to WhatsApp. With its help, users will be able to select exactly which contacts they wish to share their status updates with.
WhatsApp New Feature: A new feature is arriving on Meta's messaging platform, WhatsApp. Once this feature becomes available, users—much like with Instagram's "Close Friends" option—will be able to share their status updates with a select group of contacts. Currently, this feature is undergoing testing and has been made available to beta users on both Android and iPhone. This suggests that it could soon be rolled out to the wider user base as well. Let's take a look at how this new feature will work and what changes it will bring about.
How Will the New Feature Work?
This feature will provide users with the convenience of creating distinct lists to control who sees their WhatsApp Status updates. Users can create lists for various groups, such as family, friends, office colleagues, and so on. Subsequently, based on these lists, users will be able to select exactly who they want to share their status updates with.
What Will Change with the Arrival of the New Feature?
There are many types of WhatsApp Status updates that people do not wish to share with their entire contact list; however, doing so is currently quite a cumbersome task on WhatsApp. To achieve this, users typically have to either manually select specific contacts before posting each update or select all contacts and then manually exclude a few individuals. This is a time-consuming and tedious process. Now, this hassle is about to end. With the new feature, users will have the option to create customized contact lists tailored to their preferences. Consequently, when posting a status update, they will simply be able to select the appropriate list to determine exactly who gets to see it.
Contacts Will Not Be Notified When Lists Are Updated
This feature is being regarded as a significant enhancement from a privacy perspective. When you include or exclude a specific contact from a list, that individual will not receive any notification or alert regarding the change. This entire process will remain completely private. Even after a list has been created, it can still be modified.
Upcoming: Paid Subscription on WhatsApp
Alongside this feature, WhatsApp is also testing its paid subscription service, 'WhatsApp Plus.' It has been rolled out in certain parts of Europe. This plan is priced at approximately ₹300 per month, offering users features such as exclusive stickers, the option to pin up to 20 chats, new app icons, and special ringtones. It is anticipated that additional features may be added to this service in the future.
