WhatsApp is coming with a security feature, with messages from unknown numbers appearing in a separate section.
A feature called 'Who Can Message Me' is coming to WhatsApp. This will make it easier to track messages from unknown numbers and maintain privacy.
WhatsApp has already implemented features like end-to-end encryption and two-step verification to maintain privacy on its platform. Now, the instant messaging app is introducing another security feature that will allow users to decide who can send them messages. This will reduce the number of unwanted messages in the app and give users complete control.
Wabetainfo reported that WhatsApp is working on a privacy feature to protect users' personal data. This upcoming tool has been spotted in the Android 2.25.33.11 beta update. It is currently in development and will soon be released to beta users for testing.
The new feature coming to WhatsApp is called 'Who Can Message Me', which includes two options: Everyone and My Contacts. Selecting 'Everyone' will display messages from unknown numbers along with contacts in the chat list, allowing users to reply. Selecting 'My Contacts' will move messages from unknown numbers to the Requests folder, making message management easier.
For your information, WhatsApp's privacy feature will work similarly to Instagram's 'Message Requests' folder. This folder will display messages from numbers not in your contact list.
When will it be rolled out?
The new feature of the instant messaging app is currently in development. Therefore, no word on the launch of the security tool. It is expected that this privacy tool will be rolled out by the end of this year.
