WhatsApp Android users might soon see a slightly modified app interface. Reports indicate that WhatsApp is testing a new bottom navigation bar for its Android app, featuring a design somewhat similar to the interface found on the iPhone.

According to media reports, this change has been spotted in version 2.26.38.10 of WhatsApp Beta for Android. In the new design, the bottom navigation bar appears distinct from the rest of the interface; it features rounded corners, giving it the appearance of a floating bar on the screen.

**Navigation bar changes after nearly three years**
WhatsApp had previously shifted its main sections to the bottom of the screen in the Android app about three years ago. With Beta version 2.23.10.6, sections such as Chats, Communities, Updates, and Calls were moved to the bottom navigation bar.

Now, the company appears to be preparing to revamp the design of this navigation bar once again. This time, the focus is not merely on the placement of sections but also on the bar's shape, the tabs, and the visual style of the controls.

**iPhone-like appearance, yet retaining the Android design**
The new Android navigation bar is said to resemble the floating tab bar introduced for WhatsApp on the iPhone. On iOS, this change was implemented alongside Apple's "Liquid Glass" design language.

However, the Android version of WhatsApp will not entirely replicate the iPhone design. Reports suggest that the app will continue to adhere to Google's design guidelines for Android. The new navigation bar's design is more clearly visible in WhatsApp's Light Theme, whereas the difference is less apparent in the Dark Theme.

**Change introduced amidst Android user feedback**
Users have frequently called for changes to WhatsApp's Android interface. Recently, WABetaInfo sought feedback from users on X (formerly Twitter) regarding the current Android design. Many users have expressed the need for a more modern look for the app.

WhatsApp has not yet disclosed whether this user feedback has influenced the new navigation design. However, the company is continuously working on various changes to the app's interface. These include a new category for chat themes added in WhatsApp Beta version 2.26.37.6.

Currently, the new navigation bar is in internal development and is not yet available to all beta users. WhatsApp has also not announced when this design will be released to the general public.

Meta's New AI Tool for Business Users
Meanwhile, Meta has introduced a new tool to assist with setting up WhatsApp Business using AI. The company announced the "WhatsApp Business Tools MCP" via the Meta for Developers blog on September 15.

This tool enables AI coding tools—such as Claude, Cursor, Codex, and ChatGPT—to work with the WhatsApp Business Platform.

Its objective is to simplify the process of setting up WhatsApp for businesses. Currently, developers have to frequently switch between the Meta Developer Console, Business Manager, API documentation, and the coding environment. With the new system, an AI agent can be instructed on what needs to be set up, and it can handle a significant portion of the process.

Easier WhatsApp Business Setup
According to Meta, the WhatsApp Business Tools MCP can facilitate the creation of a WhatsApp Business Account. Additionally, the AI ​​agent can assist with adding and verifying phone numbers, registering numbers with the Cloud API, and fulfilling the necessary WhatsApp Terms of Service requirements.

The tool can also identify pending tasks. For instance, if a payment method needs to be added or business verification is incomplete, the AI ​​agent can provide this information. This allows for the detection of setup gaps before testing the WhatsApp integration begins. Meta stated that the MCP also verifies authentication and permissions during setup. Developers sign in using Facebook Login for Business and grant the necessary permissions. According to the company, only an authenticated user can make changes to account settings.
