In view of the severe heatwave conditions in Srinagar and surrounding areas, the Transport Department has made special arrangements for the convenience of the public. The department has urged people to visit the RTO office only when absolutely necessary and to handle most other tasks online or via WhatsApp.

**WhatsApp Number Released**
People will no longer need to visit the RTO office in person for transport-related complaints, applications, or any other issues. To facilitate this, RTO Kashmir has released an official WhatsApp number: 9622002432. People can send their issues, applications, and necessary documents to this number. The department has stated that prompt action will be taken on every application and complaint.

**Effort to Respond Within 48 Hours**
According to RTO Kashmir, efforts will be made to resolve applications and complaints received via WhatsApp within 48 hours. If additional documents or information are required in any case, the concerned official will contact the applicant using the same WhatsApp number.

**Many Essential Tasks Can Be Done from Home**
The department has advised people to carry out most tasks related to vehicles and driving licenses through government online portals. Several services can be availed from the comfort of one's home, such as:

*   Applying for a learner's license
*   Renewing a driving license
*   Vehicle registration (RC) related tasks
*   Other transport services

This will eliminate the need for people to make repeated visits to the office. This system will particularly benefit those who have to travel long distances to reach the RTO office; it will save them time and money while sparing them the trouble of traveling in the scorching heat. Additionally, reduced crowding at offices will allow for the resolution of essential matters in a faster and more organized manner.

**Appeal to Maximize Use of Digital Services**
The Transport Department has appealed to the public to make maximum use of WhatsApp and government online services. People should visit the RTO office only in cases where a personal appearance is mandatory.

The department states that this initiative is a significant step towards providing relief from the heat while making government services easier, faster, and more accessible.
