WhatsApp E-Mitra: Prioritizing e-governance, Rajasthan's Bhajanlal government has transformed the E-Mitra service into a WhatsApp-based platform. This allows users to avail themselves of all E-Mitra services from the comfort of their homes using their mobile phones. Currently, the WhatsApp E-Mitra service offers 27 services—such as paying electricity and water bills—from home, with a future goal of expanding this number to 100.

On July 1, Rajasthan CM Bhajanlal launched the upgraded WhatsApp E-Mitra service. Simply sending a "Hi" message to the saved WhatsApp E-Mitra number (94610-62705) activates the chatbot, which then provides the desired services in both Hindi and English at the user's fingertips.

What is WhatsApp E-Mitra?
WhatsApp E-Mitra can be described as an extension of the existing E-Mitra service in Rajasthan. It enables users to access 27 services related to certificates—such as domicile, caste, birth, death, EWS, and ration cards—directly from their mobile phones via WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit government offices. Furthermore, users can access facilities related to 'Jan Aadhaar,' police department services, and information on government schemes through WhatsApp E-Mitra. The service is designed to be fast, simple, and transparent, ensuring a positive user experience.

How does WhatsApp E-Mitra work?
To use WhatsApp E-Mitra, users must first save the service's WABA number (94610-62705) to their phone contacts. Next, they need to send a "Hi" message and select the required service. After selecting the service, the user must provide their Jan Aadhaar number to log in; once OTP verification is complete, they can immediately avail themselves of the desired services. Launched for the convenience of the public, this digital innovation will offer significant relief to users by making various essential services easily accessible directly on their mobile phones—services for which citizens currently have to visit government offices or 'e-Mitra' centers. Now, however, citizens will be able to avail themselves of these services through WhatsApp e-Mitra.

Is WhatsApp e-Mitra secure?
Dismissing concerns about potential user data leaks via WhatsApp e-Mitra, the DoIT nodal officer explained that all user information and services would be routed directly through the DoIT data center, with mandatory OTP verification. He stated that the API-level integration ensures the data is technically secure, as information is transmitted only to the authorized individual upon OTP verification.
