The Rajasthan government has introduced the WhatsApp E-Mitra service, enabling access to 27 different services via the app. People will no longer need to make repeated visits to government offices for these services; instead, they can avail themselves of them from home using WhatsApp. The government aims to eventually integrate 100 services with WhatsApp.

What is WhatsApp E-Mitra?

This service by the Rajasthan government is an expansion of the existing E-Mitra initiative, which promotes e-governance and digital services. Citizens can now access 27 services on their phones without visiting government offices. They can avail themselves of essential services—such as obtaining domicile, caste, birth, and death certificates, as well as EWS certificates and ration cards—directly from their mobile phones. There is no need to visit a government office. Furthermore, WhatsApp E-Mitra will provide information regarding government schemes.

How to avail the service?

To use the WhatsApp E-Mitra service, users must have WhatsApp installed on their smartphones.
Next, open WhatsApp and send a message saying 'Hi' to the E-Mitra number: 94610-62705.
The WhatsApp E-Mitra chatbot will then activate and ask which services you require.
Select the desired service and proceed.

Is there a charge for these services?

This government service is completely free; no additional charges or platform fees will be levied for accessing services through WhatsApp E-Mitra. The government may expand this E-Mitra service to include additional services in the future. According to the government, WhatsApp E-Mitra is a 24/7 chatbot that allows people to avail themselves of these 27 services at any time.

How secure is the system?

The Rajasthan government has clarified that the WhatsApp E-Mitra service is completely secure; there is no risk of users' information being leaked. To access the service, users must undergo OTP-based authentication. Furthermore, the chatbot features API-level integration, ensuring complete data security, and information is provided only to users authorized via OTP.
