These features aim to enhance the overall YouTube Shorts experience for users. Regarding 2x speed, you can now fast-forward through short videos; this feature functions similarly to Instagram Reels. Additionally, the Clear Screen mode allows users to enjoy content in full-screen, enabling this feature temporarily removes on-screen overlays. Let’s look at the details.

YouTube officially announced these new features in a recent blog post. According to the post, the company has updated the YouTube Shorts experience. As mentioned, the list includes features like Clear Screen Mode, 2x Speed, "Not Interested," and a new Heart icon.

Clear Screen Mode

You can now enjoy YouTube Shorts content without distractions, thanks to the newly introduced Clear Screen mode. Activating this feature removes all on-screen overlays, including text descriptions and interaction tools.

Enhanced Playback and Audio Controls

Responding to user requests, YouTube has released several other features, including playback speed controls. Users can now watch short videos at 2x speed. Additionally, you can mute short videos simply by tapping the screen.

Heart Icon

Several existing features for YouTube users have been updated. Previously, YouTube Shorts displayed a "Thumbs-Up" icon, but this has now been replaced by a "Heart" icon—much like the "Like" button found on Instagram Reels. A 'Not Interested' option has been added to replace the 'Dislike' button for negative feedback.
