Want to Avoid Hours of Endless Scrolling? Learn the Easy Way to Turn Off YouTube Shorts
YouTube has introduced a new feature that allows users to completely disable short-form videos by setting the Shorts feed timer to 0 minutes. This feature is being rolled out gradually. It will help users save time, discover higher-quality content, and exercise greater control over their digital lives.
YouTube has launched a highly practical and empowering new feature for its users, enabling them to completely turn off YouTube Shorts within the mobile app if they so choose. The company has added a new “0 minutes” option to the Shorts feed timer, allowing users to entirely remove the short-form video feed. This feature is currently being rolled out globally in phases.
What’s New in the Shorts Timer?
YouTube had previously introduced a timer feature to limit Shorts viewing time, allowing users to set a duration ranging from 15 minutes to 2 hours. Once the set time elapsed, the app would remind you to stop scrolling. However, with this new update, users can now select the “0 minutes” option. This means that as soon as you enable this setting, the Shorts feed will immediately disappear and will no longer appear on your home screen.
How to Disable YouTube Shorts (on Android and iOS)
If you, too, wish to get rid of Shorts, follow these simple steps:
Open the YouTube app on your phone.
Tap on your profile picture located in the top-right corner.
Go to Settings.
Select the Time Management option.
Toggle on the Shorts Feed limit.
Now, select 0 minutes on the timer.
That’s it—as soon as you do this, the Shorts feed will be disabled immediately.
Benefits of Limiting Shorts
This YouTube feature offers more than just control; it also helps enhance your digital lifestyle in several ways, such as:
Instead of watching Shorts, you can watch longer, more informative videos, thereby boosting your learning capacity.
It is all too easy to lose track of time while scrolling through Shorts—before you know it, 5 minutes can turn into an hour. This feature helps control that habit.
Opting to watch less—and calmer—content, rather than a constant stream of rapidly changing short videos, will leave your mind feeling more relaxed and focused.
When the algorithm stops continuously serving you videos, you will be able to personally select the right and useful content that aligns with your own preferences and needs.
