Vodafone Idea: Big blow for Vi! Vodafone Idea has discontinued the ‘Guaranteed Extra Data’ benefit..
Vodafone Idea has disappointed its prepaid users by discontinuing the Vi Guarantee Extra Data program. Under this offer, the company provided free data benefits. Launched in May 2024 as a limited-period offer, this program provided free high-speed data to all 5G and new 4G smartphone users. However, the benefit of free extra data is no longer available. Let's find out how much data was offered under this program.
Vi Extra Data
According to Telecom Talk, under the Vi Guarantee program, users were given 130GB of guaranteed extra data over a year, with 10GB of data automatically credited to their account every 28 days for 13 consecutive cycles. This offer could be availed through the Vi app. This means the company will no longer provide you with 130GB of extra data.
At the time of launch, this benefit was offered to users who purchased a daily data unlimited plan priced at ₹239 or more. This offer was valid for Vi subscribers with 5G smartphones and those who had recently upgraded to a new 4G smartphone.
States where the benefit was not available
At the time of launch, Vi announced that the Vi Guarantee offer was available to all 5G and new 4G smartphone users across India, except in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, North East, and Odisha.
Vi Guarantee for 2G Users
In July 2025, Vi launched the Vi Guarantee program for prepaid customers using 2G handsets. The company offered two days of extra validity (a total of 24 days per year) on unlimited voice recharges (₹199 and above). The Vi Guarantee Program and the extra data benefit are no longer listed on the company's app or website.
