Users will also be able to chat in ChatGPT, with a group chat option coming, testing is underway here.
ChatGPT will no longer be just an AI assistant. It will introduce a group chat option, allowing up to 20 people to converse simultaneously. This feature is currently being tested.
ChatGPT will no longer be just an AI assistant. OpenAI is also introducing a group chat option. This will allow users to chat with friends and family while using the AI assistant. It will act as a shared space where everyone can brainstorm together, with ChatGPT acting as their assistant and guide. The company is currently testing it in New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan.
How will this feature work?
Group chats can be started by tapping the people icon in a conversation on ChatGPT. If you add someone to an ongoing chat, ChatGPT will create a copy of that conversation, keeping the original chat private. You can also invite other users to chat by sending a link, and a maximum of 20 people can be added to a group chat. When you first join a chat, you'll need to set up a profile with your name, username, and photo. Group chats will be easy to find and join by going to the section in the sidebar.
ChatGPT will help
Once the group is set up, ChatGPT will be available to assist. It will help with everything from planning a weekend trip to creating a packing list. Group members can also get ideas and suggestions from it. The company has trained it with new social behaviors for group chat conversations. It can decide when to speak and when to be silent and can also react with emojis. However, users will be able to mention it at any time and receive responses.
Special Focus on Privacy
Special attention has been given to privacy in this feature. Group chats are kept completely separate from private conversations, and ChatGPT will not use your personal memory in group chats. There's also an option to filter sensitive material for younger users, and parents can turn this feature off entirely if they prefer.
