UPI ID: Create your preferred UPI ID by visiting Paytm and following these simple steps..

Paytm recently introduced a new feature for its users. This allows them to create a custom UPI ID. This means that users will now be able to create a custom UPI ID that they can easily remember. Following Paytm, Google Pay, and PhonePe are also working on implementing this feature. This feature aims to further strengthen privacy. It allows users to hide their phone numbers or email IDs while making transactions. If you also want to create a custom UPI ID, you can do so by following the steps below.

Is this feature available on Google Pay?
For your information, according to some media reports, Google Pay, like Paytm, is also offering its users the ability to change their UPI ID. However, I haven't found any such option in my app yet.

This feature strengthens user privacy.
When launching this feature earlier this month, Paytm stated that using a custom ID will maintain user privacy. It also creates a unique digital identity. Paytm described it as secure, stating that it helps prevent incidents like harassment and stalking. This feature makes digital transactions even more secure.

Support is available with these banks
Initially, this feature only worked with Yes Bank and Axis Bank. However, IDs can now be changed through HDFC Bank and SBI as well.

You will no longer see your phone number or email ID.
If a Paytm user changes their ID, their phone number or email ID is replaced. It is replaced by custom alphanumeric text, followed by "@pt(bank name)." This new ID keeps the user's identity confidential.

How to create a custom UPI ID?
To create a custom UPI ID with Paytm, you must first open the Paytm app on your phone.
After that, tap on the profile icon on the left side.
After this, go to UPI and Payment Settings and then click on the “Try Personalized UPI ID” option.
Now a sheet will open. You can enter the ID of your choice here or select any ID from the list.
Then click on Confirm. This way the ID will be changed easily.
Hopefully, this option will soon be available in PhonePe and Google Pay as well.
