Did you know that you can now easily make UPI payments in India using your international mobile number? Yes, it's absolutely possible. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has enabled this feature for users in some countries. This allows Indians living abroad and other users to easily make digital payments in India using their foreign mobile numbers. Today, we'll explain this in more detail and what you should keep in mind.

How to use UPI with an international mobile number?
To use UPI with an international mobile number, you'll first need to download a UPI app that supports international numbers, such as Paytm, PhonePe, BHIM, Google Pay (Indian version), or your bank's mobile app.

First, download a UPI app from your mobile's app store that supports international numbers.

Open the app and enter your country code (+1, +971, etc.) and your international mobile number.

After doing this, the app will send an OTP to your international number.
You must have an international SMS or roaming balance on your phone for this to work.
After verification, the app will automatically detect the Indian bank account linked to your number.
You must enter the last six digits of your Indian debit card and the expiry date and set a new UPI PIN.
After this, you can now make transactions in India by scanning a QR code, entering your UPI ID, or using your mobile number.
Keep these things in mind:
To use UPI with an international mobile number, you must have an NRE (Non-Resident External) or NRO (Non-Resident Ordinary) account. The international number you want to use in the UPI app must be linked to your bank records. Your country must also be on the list of countries supported by NPCI.
