A major change is coming to the digital payment system that could completely transform the experience for millions of UPI users. The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has issued directives ensuring that all UPI Autopay mandates (auto-debit instructions) can now be viewed on a single app. This means that if you have set up subscriptions or EMIs across different apps, tracking them will become much easier than before.

**What is changing?**
Currently, users have to visit various UPI apps (such as GPay, PhonePe, Paytm, or BHIM) to view their Autopay mandates—such as OTT subscriptions, SIPs, EMIs, or bill payments. However, under the new system, all mandates will be visible on a single app. Additionally, users will be able to manage, modify, or cancel them from that same location.

**Why was this change necessary?**
The use of UPI Autopay is growing rapidly, but this growth has brought several challenges, such as:
*   Mandates are scattered across different apps
*   Difficulty in identifying unwanted subscriptions
*   The hassle of switching between apps to track payments

This initiative by the NPCI is considered a major step toward resolving these issues. It will give users greater control over their finances and enhance transparency.

**What is UPI Autopay?**
A UPI mandate or Autopay is a system where you provide prior authorization to automate payments—such as monthly OTT subscriptions, loan EMIs, or mutual fund SIPs.

**Rapid growth in Autopay usage**
According to NPCI data, 10 banks in the country processed approximately 1.6 billion Autopay transactions in May 2026. In contrast, the figure stood at 577 million (57.7 crore) a year earlier, in May 2025. This indicates a nearly threefold increase in Autopay usage over the course of a year.

**What are the directives for companies?**

The NPCI has directed payment companies and UPI apps to update their platforms so that:

*   All e-mandates are interoperable.
*   A complete list of mandates is visible on any app.
*   Users get comprehensive information in a single view.

How will users benefit?
1.  Information regarding all auto-debits will be available in one place.
2.  It will enable immediate control over unwanted subscriptions.
3.  There will be better tracking and transparency.
4.  The risk of fraud and missed payments will be reduced.

UPI is evolving from a mere payment medium into a financial control tool. The feature allowing users to view all AutoPay mandates within a single app will make managing expenses significantly easier.
