Two major homegrown Indian apps join forces; now, get precise locations directly via chat...
Zoho Corporation’s messaging app, Arattai, and India’s indigenous navigation platform, Mappls, have joined forces. Now, while chatting with a friend on the Arattai app, you can open their precise location on Mappls with a single click, which will then provide accurate directions to their home. Industry experts believe this partnership could pose a challenge to global giants like Google Maps and WhatsApp. Mappls is known for its high level of accuracy, even when navigating through India’s narrow, complex streets. Zoho Corporation’s Arattai offers users a messaging experience centered on privacy and data security.
Announcing this partnership on the social media platform X, Arattai stated, “Great connections should make life easier. We are bringing Arattai and @mappls closer together to make the journey from conversation to destination even smoother. Now, you’ll spend less time getting lost and more time enjoying an easier journey.”

What changes now?
Before this update, whenever a user shared their location in an Arattai chat, the link would default to opening in foreign tools like Google Maps or Apple Maps. That is no longer the case. Now, when a friend or relative sends a location pin in a chat, you will have the option to open it directly in Mappls (MapmyIndia Maps). This means no more hassle of copying links or the tedious task of manually typing in addresses—just one tap, and your navigation is ready to go. Doorstep Navigation Included
The layout of Indian roads and neighborhoods—where finding a specific house number or navigating the correct turn within a maze of narrow lanes can be a daunting challenge—often proves difficult for foreign apps like Google Maps. Frequently, Google Maps or Apple Maps will conclude the navigation once the user reaches the main road, forcing them to make phone calls to ask for further directions. This is where MapmyIndia’s 'Mappls' stands out.
Mappls has been specifically designed for the Indian landscape. Its unique 'doorstep navigation' system guides users directly to the precise house or entrance gate. Furthermore, features such as 3D junction views, real-time traffic updates, and safety alerts—tailored to Indian roads—for speed breakers and sharp turns make it an excellent choice.
A 2025 Vision Becomes Reality
Efforts toward this collaboration began last year. At the time, Rohan Verma, Director of MapmyIndia, suggested that integrating the Mappls API with Arattai would be a game-changer for Indian users. Now, in 2026, this vision has fully become a reality.
