YouTube New Update: Today, AI-generated content is rapidly increasing on almost every social media platform, including YouTube. According to a recent study, one in five videos on YouTube may be AI-generated, while almost half of the Shorts suggested to new accounts are also created using AI. Such content is often referred to as "AI sludge," meaning digital content that is low in quality and produced in large quantities solely with the help of AI.

YouTube prepares to offer relief to users

In light of this growing problem, Google-owned YouTube has taken steps to improve the search experience. The company has introduced new search filters aimed at giving users the freedom to decide what kind of content they want to see. YouTube says these changes will make "advanced search tools even more effective."

Now you can hide Shorts from search results

YouTube has added a new Shorts filter to the 'Type' menu. This allows users to completely hide Shorts from search results. This feature is especially beneficial for those who are annoyed by the frequently appearing short, often AI-generated 10-15 second videos and want to watch longer, more substantial content.

'Sort by' is now 'Prioritize'

YouTube has made another change to the search options. The 'Sort by' menu has been renamed 'Prioritize'. Along with this, the 'View Count' option has been replaced with a new filter called 'Popularity'. This new filter ranks videos based not only on views but also on other important indicators such as watch time.

Some old options have disappeared

With these new changes, YouTube has also removed some old filters. Options like 'Upload Date Last Hour' and 'Sort by Rating' are no longer available in search. It's currently unclear whether these options will return, although Google has reversed its decisions several times in the past.

It will take time to reach all users

These new search filters are currently only visible to a limited number of users, indicating that the change is being rolled out in phases. Therefore, it may take some time for this feature to appear on all accounts.

How will this change the YouTube viewing experience?

These updates are expected to make searching on YouTube clearer, more controlled, and more useful, especially for users who want to avoid low-quality, AI-generated content and instead find authentic, informative videos.
