Threads Live Chats Feature: The tech giant Meta has announced the addition of a new feature to its micro-blogging platform, Threads. This feature is called 'Live Chats.' With its help, users can join public groups to express their views on trending subjects. The company believes that this feature has been specifically designed to bring all users together. Through this tool, users can converse about trending topics such as sports, news, and music releases. Consequently, the platform is set to become even more interactive than before.
Live Chats
According to the company, Threads' Live Chats feature is quite unique; it differs significantly from standard group chats. It allows users to join a group conversation specifically during live events. This enables users not only to 'like' posts related to a specific topic but also to actively discuss that issue in real-time.
This new feature includes support for live polls and countdowns, which helps make discussions more engaging. Users can also view live match scores within the chat interface. Additionally, a typing indicator is visible, letting users know who is currently typing a message.
How Many Users Can Join a Chat?
In an active Threads Live Chat group, up to 150 users can join simultaneously and contribute their opinions by typing messages. Beyond this limit, additional users can join the group to observe the ongoing discussion and react to the content, though they will not be able to type messages themselves.
How to Join a Chat?
A red ring will appear around the profile picture of the user hosting a Live Chat. This visual cue indicates that the chat is currently live. Other users can join the group chat simply by tapping on that profile.
Launch Kicks Off with the NBA
This feature has been rolled out initially for the NBA Playoff community, where selected creators and media personalities will host live chats during matches. This will also include Malika Andrews and Rachel Nichols.
When will the feature be available?
The rollout of this Threads feature has already begun. Some users have already started receiving access to it. The feature will become available to everyone in the coming days.
