A platform that provides a crucial service to WhatsApp has announced that it will be discontinuing its service from June, which will force WhatsApp to make this major change – learn more about it...

WhatsApp Feature: There's an update for millions of WhatsApp users, and a major change can be expected by June-July. The Meta-owned company is going to change its GIF provider under this update, which will also bring a change in how you send GIFs in your chats. For the millions of WhatsApp users worldwide who share GIFs during their messages, the provider for sending them will change, and there is a possibility of a change in the chat experience as well.

Information from WABetaInfo

WABetaInfo, which reports on WhatsApp updates, has shared information about this on its social media platform X, stating that the company is going to replace its default GIF provider, Tenor. Instead, the company will choose Klipy GIF provider as its new partner, which will provide WhatsApp GIFs to its users. This update has been seen in WhatsApp Beta for iOS 26.2.10.70 and is also available in the TestFlight beta program.

Why is Tenor GIF service changing?

The reason behind the discontinuation of Tenor GIF service is that Tenor has stated that it will only provide its API services until June 30, 2026, and has stopped accepting new developer registrations. Therefore, it will not provide GIFs after June 30. To address this, WhatsApp has already started working on integrating its system with the Klipy GIF provider so that its users do not face any problems while sharing GIFs during chats.

Learn about Klipy GIF provider

This is an automatic GIF provider, stickers, and meme offering platform that also offers API services. With this feature, WhatsApp users will be able to search for and share GIFs directly within their chats without any extra effort. They will continue to share GIFs in the same way they do now, but instead of the Tenor label that previously appeared on GIFs, the Klipy label will be displayed.
