If you were contemplating taking a break from WhatsApp but didn't want to go through the hassle of setting everything up again after deleting the app, a new feature is coming to the app soon just for you. The popular instant messaging app, owned by Meta, is finally working on a "logout" feature that will allow users to sign out of the app without losing their chats, settings, or login information.

**This Feature Spotted in WhatsApp Beta**
WABetaInfo—a site that tracks WhatsApp development—has spotted this feature; it was observed in WhatsApp's Android beta version 2.26.21.9. It is currently available to a select group of beta testers and is expected to be rolled out to a wider user base in the coming months. The report states that, as seen in the Android 2.26.21.9 update, a feature enabling users to log out of WhatsApp without deleting the app or losing any data is currently being rolled out.

Until now, WhatsApp users have not had a proper logout option. If someone wished to disconnect from the messaging app for a while, their only recourse was to uninstall it. Uninstalling the app necessitated redownloading it, logging back in, and restoring their chat history.

For many users—particularly those who simply wanted a brief respite from the constant stream of messages and notifications—this process was tedious. The new logout feature aims to resolve this very issue. Users will be able to sign out of their accounts directly via the WhatsApp settings menu, while all their chats and account information remain securely stored on their device. According to reports, the logout option is located within the "Account" section of the WhatsApp settings.
