Several essential services for EPF account holders are now available on the UMANG app. Through the app, employees can perform five key tasks—such as generating a UAN, activating it, and completing face authentication—from the comfort of their homes. Additionally, the app offers features like checking EPF balances, downloading passbooks, and tracking claim statuses. The Ministry of Labour and Employment shared this information on the social media platform X.

**5 Essential EPFO Services Available on the UMANG App**
According to the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the UMANG app facilitates UAN allotment, UAN activation, and face authentication for already active UANs. Once the UAN is obtained and activated, members can access online services linked to their EPF accounts. These include checking EPF balances, downloading passbooks, viewing claim statuses, and updating KYC details. To avail of these services, users require a valid Aadhaar number, a mobile number linked to Aadhaar, and the 'Aadhaar Face RD' app for face authentication.

**How to Generate and Activate a New UAN**
Individuals who do not yet have a UAN can navigate to the 'UAN Allotment and Activation' option on the UMANG app and enter their Aadhaar and mobile numbers. After consenting to Aadhaar validation, the user must enter the OTP received on their mobile phone. The system will first check whether the Aadhaar number is already linked to an existing UAN. If no UAN is found, the user must complete face authentication. Following a successful face scan, the system will process the information, generate a new UAN, and send it via SMS to the registered mobile number. If OTP or face authentication fails, users can retry the process or contact support.

**How to Activate and Verify Face for an Existing UAN**
Employees who possess a UAN but have not yet activated it can use the 'UAN Activation' option on the UMANG app to enter their UAN, Aadhaar number, and mobile number. After OTP verification, face authentication must be completed via the UIDAI API. Upon successful verification, the UAN will be activated, and the UAN along with a temporary password will be received via SMS. Meanwhile, members with an already active UAN can verify their identity using the 'Face Authentication of Already Activated UAN' option. Subsequently, EPFO records will be automatically updated based on the UAN, Aadhaar details, and registered mobile number.
