Tech: Recharged the Wrong Number? Do This Immediately to Get a Refund...
Have you ever accidentally recharged the wrong mobile number? Often, it is unclear what steps to take next, leading to financial loss and frustration for users. However, Jio users need not worry anymore, as the company will now assist them in rectifying this error. According to information available on the official Reliance Jio website, this new feature allows customers to request a refund within a specified timeframe. This means you no longer need to chase down the individual who mistakenly received your recharge credit; the entire process remains strictly between you and Jio.
**What You Need to Know**
The refund facility is available *only* if you initiate the recharge using the MyJio app on your device. If you performed the recharge through a third-party application—such as Paytm or PhonePe—you will not be eligible for a refund, as this feature is exclusive to the company's own app. Furthermore, timing is of critical importance.
Since you must request a cancellation immediately after performing the recharge, the general rule is that a refund request must be submitted within **3 hours** of the erroneous payment. This 3-hour window applies to standard recharge plans; however, if you accidentally recharge an International Roaming or ISD plan on the wrong number, you must submit the cancellation request within **2 hours**.
If the "Cancel" option does not appear immediately, please note that it may take up to 30 minutes to become visible. Try refreshing the app; if the option still does not appear, log in to Jio.com. Remember: You must complete this entire process within the stipulated 3-hour timeframe.
**Two Options for Receiving a Refund**
If you are deemed eligible for a refund, you will be asked to select your preferred method for receiving the money back:
1. **Instant credit to your MyJio Store Credit Wallet:** This process is instantaneous, and the credited amount can be utilized for your next mobile recharge.
2. **Refund to the original payment method:** A refund is credited back to the source used for the initial payment (e.g., UPI, Bank Account, or Credit/Debit Card). Note: It may take up to 21 business days for the funds to be credited to your account.
