Tech: ChatGPT and Sora are working together to create personalized Christmas videos..
Just before Christmas, OpenAI gave ChatGPT users a fun and unique surprise. This time, it wasn't a new update or feature list, but a hidden Christmas Easter egg that activates simply by sending an emoji. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared a cryptic post on the social media platform X, asking people to try just one emoji in ChatGPT. When users sent the gift emoji, a special Christmas feature was revealed.
When a user sends the gift emoji to ChatGPT, the chatbot first asks them to upload a selfie or take a photo with their camera. This request is then sent to OpenAI's video generation tool, Sora. Sora then creates a short, personalized Christmas video based on the user's information and previous chat history.
The video features Santa Claus himself, who humorously passes judgment on the user's behavior throughout the year. If Santa is pleased, he declares the user a "good child" and shows them a gift of their liking. However, if Santa is in a mischievous mood, he declares the user "naughty" and jokingly gives them a silly gift. Interestingly, the user has no control over the video's content; Sora determines everything.
One Video Per Account
Currently, this feature only works once per account. Starting a new chat displays the same old video. Some users have reported that sending other Christmas emojis, such as Santa or a Christmas tree, also activates this feature.
This festive experiment demonstrates how OpenAI is combining chat, image, and video AI to create new interactive experiences. While this feature may be temporary, it adds a fun and festive touch to ChatGPT for the holiday season.
