Tech: Are YouTube and X promoting pornographic apps? A study reveals this shocking finding..
YouTube and X (Twitter) are facing allegations of directing millions of users to websites that offer AI-powered sexually explicit tools. A new study by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue (ISD) reveals that, over a four-month period, these platforms drove millions of users to services where anyone can create sexually explicit images. These findings are truly alarming and have raised concerns about how social media platforms facilitate the discovery of deepfake tools, despite their own policies prohibiting such activity.
**Key Findings of the Study**
The published ISD study examined the ten most popular deepfake-generating apps and websites and analyzed how users discovered them. It found that social media platforms drove over 5.7 million visits to websites that generate sexually explicit content (images) between December 2025 and March 2026. YouTube alone accounted for 1.82 million visits—representing more than 30 percent of all referrals—while X was the second-largest source, driving over 1.3 million visits.
According to the report, users searching for terms like "undress app" were shown videos reviewing and promoting these tools. Some videos included links to the apps and promo codes for free credits, making it easier to access the services.
**Platforms Violating Their Own Policies**
Researchers state that these findings clearly indicate the companies are violating their own policies regarding sexually explicit content. They argue that these rules should also apply to websites and tools that generate such explicit imagery.
