Startup: NASSCOM and UIDAI partnership will increase digital identity innovation, providing a huge opportunity for deeptech startups..
Indian IT industry association NASSCOM has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). This partnership aims to enable India's deeptech startups to innovate and grow in the digital identity space.
What is this new initiative?
Under this partnership, NASSCOM will support UIDAI's special scheme, SITA (Scheme for Innovation and Technology Associated with Aadhaar). This initiative aims to promote open innovation in India, encourage homegrown technology solutions, and develop scalable identity technology (IDTech) solutions that can further strengthen the Aadhaar ecosystem.
Startups will gain access to the UIDAI Incubation Sandbox.
Under this partnership, deeptech startups will gain access to the UIDAI Incubation Sandbox. This will provide startups with the opportunity to test and refine their digital solutions in a policy-linked environment. Startups will have the opportunity to pilot their solutions through this platform, connect with key stakeholders, and address challenges related to India's digital future.
Education and innovation will also receive a boost.
This initiative will not be limited to technology testing. NASSCOM and UIDAI will also collaborate to organize educational institution engagements, curated showcases, and structured exchanges. These will help startup founders spread their ideas, build credibility, and rapidly scale their businesses.
India, one of the world's fastest-growing deeptech markets
India is currently one of the world's fastest-growing deeptech markets. Over 4,000 deeptech startups are active here, with over 500 of them working in strategic sectors such as healthtech, agritech, and space. This partnership between NASSCOM and UIDAI will not only provide these startups with the opportunity to innovate in Aadhaar-based technology but also provide them with the opportunity to actively contribute to India's Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).
Help in making the digital ecosystem self-reliant.
This agreement between NASSCOM and UIDAI is a major step towards establishing India as a global hub for digital identity innovation. This initiative will encourage the country's deeptech startups to develop new technologies and help make India's digital ecosystem more self-reliant.
